Blackpots was created from a deep love for Ethiopian coffee and the traditions that surround it. Growing up with the aroma, and the conversations shared around the coffee ceremony shaped who we are today. We bring that same spirit into every pouch we offer; authentic, rich, and crafted with care.
Based in Atlanta, we blend our Ethiopian roots with a passion for sharing quality coffee in the U.S. market. This journey started with family support and a vision to bring people closer to the culture we love, one cup at a time.


BLACKPOTS COFFEE
The name "Blackpots" has been inspired by the traditional Ethiopian black coffee pot, known as the Jebena. Made from clay, the Jebena has a distinctive shape with a spherical base, a long neck, and a spout. This vessel is used to brew coffee over an open flame, producing a rich and aromatic brew that is poured into small cups for serving.

The Jebena is not just a tool but a symbol of Ethiopian culture and hospitality, embodying the art and ritual of coffee preparation that has been passed down through generations.
History of Coffee
KALDI'S TALE
Kaldi’s tale is a legendary story from Ethiopia that explains the discovery of coffee. According to the legend, Kaldi, a goat herder, noticed that his goats became unusually energetic after eating red berries from a certain plant. Curious, Kaldi tried the berries himself and felt more alert, so he brought them to a local monastery. Although the monks first rejected the berries, they later discovered that brewing them into a drink helped them stay awake during long hours of prayer.
While the story is not historically proven, it reflects Ethiopia’s role as the birthplace of coffee and remains an important part of coffee folklore and cultural history.

Our coffee is 100% Arabica and unblended, carefully roasted to bring out the best possible flavor in every cup. We use an Ethiopian-style medium roast to achieve a strong yet balanced profile, highlighting natural sweetness, rich body, and smooth complexity. This roasting approach is designed to deliver bold taste without bitterness, ensuring a consistently high-quality and satisfying coffee experience.
